Michael and Marshall

MICHAEL AND MARSHALL BROOKS

Michael Brooks has been a single dad since his son, Marshall, was 18 months old. Being busy with work and parenting, he never spent much time thinking about the importance of preschool. Marshall had been spending his time with his grandpa who has been disabled, and who was unable to provide the education and socialization that a center would, so when Michael saw a yard sign in his neighborhood advertising the YMCA Early Childhood Development Center’s four-year old preschool program, he reached out and took a tour right away.

Michael decided before the tour was over that he wanted Marshall to be a part the program, especially when the Learning Center Site Director showed him that his payment plan would be on a sliding fee scale! He was originally worried about child care payments, because In the past he never qualified for child care assistance, but with the ECDC’s sliding fee scale, he would be able to save hundreds of dollars every month. Marshall started in August 2018.

“I honestly couldn’t ask for better care! I started noticing a positive change in Marshall after the first two weeks, and each week following. Marshall has grown into an amazingly respectful and mature five-year-old! From socializing and writing to basic fundamental and motor skills, the teachers truly do an amazing job. Ann Mueller, the Learning Center Site Director, keeps parents informed, and directs a very smooth process. The teachers are amazing, too! I just have to say WOW!”

Thank you to the generosity of our community donors for helping to make Marshall’s experience possible. If you would like to learn more about giving at the YMCA, visit us online at ymcacassclay.org/give.
